Our corporeal reality - This body I exist in.
Collaborated Direction, Production, Management, Install, Concept and Curation by Spot Willows from ASF and Magandjin-based Visual Artist, Sarah Dinh.
Co-Curated by Spot Willows (From ASF) and Sarah Dinh.
Our human experience can be a frustrating thing to accept and understand. We are constantly challenged by the unavoidable circumstances that we never signed up for when born into our vessel. Stereotypes, consent, power dynamics, perception and identity are issues we face in our individual ways.
Onism was a one-night-only exhibition curated by Sarah Dinh and Spot Willows. Audiences were invited to connect and look within, in a safe and open environment. Together, letโs listen and celebrate the spirits of one another.
Onism showed over 20+ artworks, including Installations, Artist Books, Paintings, Photography, Drawings, Handmade Paper and Wearable art. The exhibiting artists, showed new & old works in response to the prompt of the word Onism - โthe frustration and awareness of being confined to a single body, experiencing only one of countless possible livesโ.
On this night, the room was filled with contemplative music followed by an introduction to Onism by Thomas Harrison. Sarah Dinh then hosted an artist interview, questioning artists Warwick Gow, Clo Love and Bowie D about their experiences in the world as both human and artist.
Curated and Organised by Spot Willows and Sarah Dinh.
